“This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.” (William Shakespeare: Richard II)
Come with us on a private and expertly guided tour of sites associated with England’s greatest writers: their birthplaces, their homes, their resting places, memorials and museums. Enter each writer’s world and feel their presence. See for yourself the places that molded and inspired them, including some of England’s most beautiful scenery and historic towns. Happily, England’s rich literary heritage has been brilliantly preserved by the likes of English Heritage and the National Trust. And you can depend on Literary Tours of England to deliver an unforgettable travel experience, including the highest level of luxury and personal service.
Book-and-go tours – covering some of England’s most popular writers – have been thoughtfully designed by our expert staff. Although the six tour itineraries are pre-designed, your tour can be extended to include extra time at any of the tour destinations and/or other areas of England.
Tailor-made tours: Our expert staff have put together six outline itineraries for your consideration. These can be customized to reflect your personal tastes and preferences. (You have the option of taking your personal itinerary and driving yourself. The fee for the itinerary is $295.)
All our tours are very different from the norm. For a start, they’re completely private. You and your party will be our only guests. What’s more, the pace is unhurried. You’ll have plenty of time to enjoy every literary site and immerse yourself in the writer’s world. We’ll also take you to important non-literary sites along the way, plus film and TV locations. Tours can be adjusted en route to take account of weather conditions, local events, etc. Each evening we’ll review the next day’s plan and make changes as you wish. Then you’ll bed down for the night at the same place as much as possible in order to minimize the bother of packing and unpacking.
